Psalm 16 is a great chapter with a lot of great verses and concepts. I’ve decided to focus on just verses 7 and 8 today.
I will praise the Lord, who counsels me;
even at night my heart instructs me.
I have set the Lord always before me.
Because he is at my right hand,
I will not be shaken.
Psalm 16:7-8 NIV 1984
Have you ever thought about how many decisions you make in a day? Can you imagine how many decisions God guides people in? I know it’s mind boggling for me to think about. The psalm says that God even guides our heart at night after most of our decisions are made. We call it a conscience, that little voice inside telling us to do the right thing, but God gave us that for a reason.
The psalmist says that by focusing on God, keeping Him close, we will always know what to do. Our confidence and certainty will be unshakable.
