Has it ever struck you just how majestic God’s creation is? Psalm 8 talks about Him creating the atmosphere, the moon, and the stars beyond that. We now know that each of those stars have planets and moons around them. He created the huge abundance of space beyond Earth, yet He also focuses enough to make each and every snowflake different. Can you imagine that power?
Psalm 8:4 reminds us that humans are very tiny in the grand scheme of the universe. We would be lucky to see most of our planet in our lifetime. If we’re really lucky, we might get to see our planet from space. Can you imagine how much less we see in our short lives than God sees all the time? Yet God gave us authority over this planet. The writer of the psalm says that we’re in charge of the herds, wild animals, birds, and even fish. How amazing is it that God created all of the universe and gifted it to us? I can’t fathom the amount of love behind that gift.
This psalm translates into some beautiful songs. Here are a few:
I love how music just makes words come alive. God has created such an amazing world and universe. Can you think of a better word than majestic to describe Him?
A close reading of Psalm 8 reveals a prophecy of Jesus leaving heaven to become human. I think both that andstrong praise are readings that God intended this psalm to be read.
